Currently in the third of four years studying for a Software Engineering Degree (MEng)
While at university I have studied the following areas, Database development, Internet technologies, Mathematics, Neural Networks, C++, Concurrent systems and Windows programming.
As well as my studies I have also completed several projects individually and in teams, including an Embedded Systems project that covered the full range of development cycle from initial specification and requirements gathering to the final implementation and demonstration of the working system.
A Systems Analysis and Design project that I led was nominated for the team-working award sponsored by IBM.

Experience
1999 - Present: GLCC, Manchester - Financial Assistant
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation is a multinational chemical company supplying a broad range of speciality chemical solutions. My role is to support the departmental manager and the business analyst
During this time I have
- Designed and implemented a database managed archiving system for financial records.
- Developed a model for the multi-million dollar 2002 sales budget for one of GLCC's subsidiaries, and created various summary reports for the business analyst, and global sales teams.
- Developed efficient queries for electronic document storage system.
- Contribute to composition of the "Close Book" of accounts during GLCC's acquisition of FMC's process Additives Division.
- Gained a broader understanding of the roles and purposes of different departments and the flow of information between different areas of the business, particularly from the finance point of view.
1997 - 1999: England London Mission, London - Missionary
The ELM covers the area of North London and East Anglia, and is responsible for all the teaching of prospective members of the church, The Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints. It also is responsible for maintaining the largest genealogical library in Europe.
During this time I have
- Coordinated and participated in various community service projects such as the repainting of a children's playground, redecorating for elderly people, the riding with the disabled program and teaching basketball skills as part of a youth development project.
- Expanded my time and resource management skills while coordinating and planning various activities, lessons, presentations and service opportunities.
- Gained self-motivational skills by working to gain "Gospel Scholar" award and "Teacher of Excellence" certification.
1996 - 1997: Granada Accounting Services, Stockport - PC Systems
Granada Accounting Services provide accounting functions for Granada's Catering and Hospitality sites.
My main responsibilities were to
- Create and distribute updates of accounting software to hospitality sites using on-line distribution.
- Co-ordinate the engineers to update computing systems after Granada's acquisition of Forté.
- Ensure the integrity of my departments software version information for the software being used at each site.

Developed at University
While at university I have developed the following technical skills
- C/C++ Programming
- Visual Basic Programming
- Techniques used in Systems analysis and design such as dataflow diagrams, entity relationship models, CSP, petri-nets.
- Formal methods for specifying software.
- Internet development skills such as HTML, XML, JavaScript,VBScript and Active Server Pages.
I have also developed other skills during the course of my studies such as
- Team working skills have been developed on several successful projects.
- Project management skills, developed primarily while team leader during the design and implementation of a second year embedded systems project, other smaller projects have also enabled me to continue developing this skill.
Other Skills
While in employment and at other occasions I have developed the following additional skills.
- Microsoft Office 97,2000 and XP. Excellent knowledge of Access and Excel including Pivot tables, macro writing and advanced filtering options in excel.
- SAP R3 business software.
